Roger (Bunky) Orton

Bunky has been working with dogs since the age of two. He has enjoyed success in both the showing and breeding of Flat Coated Retrievers with his parents, Roger and Peachie. From the age of ten through seventeen, he worked for many well-known professional handlers and competed in Junior Showmanship competitions.

He won his first Best In Show Junior Handler award at the age of ten and was consistently ranked among the top twenty Junior Showmen in the country throughout his career. He qualified for and competed in the prestigious World Series of Junior Handling for three consecutive years. His second year he placed third and his final year he was the runner up winner.

After retiring from Junior Showmanship, Bunky turned his attention to breeding and handling Omega/Sterling dogs, and has already bred numerous champions, including the number one Flat Coat in the country in 1996, Ch. Omega’s Quiet Riot. Bunky has already been on numerous judges education panels and has made presentations on Junior Showmanship to numerous Clubs, the AKC Judges Iinstitutes, and regularly participates with Marsha Hall Brown in the Shoreline Dog Fanciers Junior Showmanship Symposium.
