Hope Heronsflight Hope Darklight Henryboy From Torwood x Heronsflight Moss by Adrienne Ayles In 1988 through 1993 my job took me to England about once every six months for a couple of weeks at a time. I used this opportunity to visit a beautiful country I had never seen before, and also meet a number of long standing Flat-Coated Retriever Breeders. On one of my trips, I went to visit Joan Mason who has been in Flat-Coats for over 30 years. Joan welcomed me into her home without hesitation. We visited and talked about Flat Coats for hours on end. I found Joan to be a warm, delightful person with a wealth of information about Flat-Coats. I spent several weekends with Joan and fell in love all of her Flat Coats, but one of her bitches in particular, Heronsflight Moss, really took my eye. In one of our many conversations, I told Joan that when and if she breeds Moss again I would be very interested in a puppy. In November of 1992 I received a note in the mail from Joan. She said Moss had puppies and there was one available if I was still interested. After I got the note from Joan, I called Peachie and after a short discussion, we both agreed we couldnt pass up the opportunity to bring a Moss puppy to California. So the next day I called Joan and said yes, we want a Moss puppy. So on February 4rd 1993, on a British Airways Flight with her own Lloyds of London Insurance Policy and hand made wooden puppy crate, Heronsflight Hope arrived at Los Angeles International Airport. Peachie and I went pick up Hope at the British Airways freight terminal and found fluffy little Flat Coat puppy that was very pleased to get out of her crate. We let Hope grow up before taking her in the show ring. Her first show was at our annual supported entry at Los Encinos in December of 1994. Hope walked away with Winners Bitch and a 4 point major. Because life is so busy, we didnt get Hopes to another show until April of 1995 and that was the Flat-Coat National Specialty in California. Hope was full of sparkle that day and charmed Mr. McGivern and won Winners Bitch at the 1995 Specialty. Hope has excellent Flat Coat type and is a delight to have around. Hope has been a positive addition to the Sterling and Omega Retriever bloodlines. Peachie and I would like to thank Joan Mason and her daughter Rosemary Talbot for sending us such a wonderful little bitch.
