Fun Day October 24, 1998
The Flat-Coat Fun Day is an event put on
annually by the Great Western Flat-Coated Retriever Club. There are puppy and "big
dog" activities at this event. This year Chase (Sterling Omega Count On Me) was 'our
star'. Chase won the Hot Dog Retrieve, was the fastest in the Bumper Retrieve, and was on
the winning relay team for the Wet Tee Shirt contest. Java (Sterling Omega Expresso, 5 mo)
and Reba (Evensong Jazz Festival, 4 mo) both won their classes in the puppy recall.

The Hot Dog Retrieve
In this contest the dog must retrieve a hot dog without eating it. Only four dogs made it
past the first cut. It wasn't planed this way but, left to right, the first 5 dogs are all
Sterling and/or Omega or dogs.
Mike proudly shows his wiener to Tracy.
Mike Knukle and Bell (Omega Sterling Belza Ringn) make the
first and second cut only to "eat it" in the finals.
Chase turns and brings home the gold with an un-eaten hot dog.
He is the only survivor of the third round.
